Pittsburgh Tops Toronto in Saturday Night Showdown

The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Pittsburgh Penguins both have high powered offenses in the NHL. It was a Saturday Night showdown at PPG Paints Arena in downtown Pittsburgh and the Penguins prevailed 5-3.

Carl Hagelin scored 3:23 into the game for the Penguins. He received a beautiful pass from Bryan Rust and deflected it in. Connor Brown and Tyler Bozak scored for the Maple Leafs in the first period. Evgeni Malkin scored later in the first for the Penguins.

Zach Aston-Reese scored off a rebound in the second-period for Pittsburgh. Patrick Marleau scored a power-play goal for Toronto in the second period.

Olli Maatta scored the game-winning goal with 12:04 remaining in the game for the Penguins. Bryant Rust scored an insurance goal with 3:24 remaining in regulation for Pittsburgh.

Frederik Andersen made 34 saves for the Maple Leafs. Matt Murray made 29 saves for the Penguins. The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Pittsburgh Penguins will face each other one more time this season.
