St. Louis Cardinals Prospect Report

The Cardinals may not have the greatest farm system in the world, but they understand the importance of it. It seems like whenever one of St. Louis's players get injured, someone will get called up right away and do a nice job filling in for them.
They have been playing better as of late. St. Louis trails the Chicago Cubs by 2.5 games in the NL Central.
Alex Reyes is the top ranked Cardinals prospect. He is a right handed pitcher and has pitched a few games in the MLB in 2016. Reyes record was 4-1 with a 1.57 ERA. In 46 innings pitched, he walked 23 batters and struck out 52. Reyes has not pitched in 2017 because of Tommy John Surgery.
Carson Kelly is the second best Cardinals prospect. He is a catcher and is currently backing up Yadier Molina in the big leagues. Kelly's stats in the minors was a .283 batting average with 10 homeruns and 41 RBI's. He appeared in 68 games with the Memphis Redbirds (AAA). In 13 games with St. Louis, his batting average is .148 with five RBI's.
Jack Flaherty is ranked third on the Cardinals top 30 prospects list. He is a right handed pitcher and is projected to reach the majors sometime this season. His record is 12-4 with a 2.17 ERA. In 136.2 innings pitched, Flaherty has walked 32 batters and struck out 139.
Outfielder Tyler O'Neill is ranked fourth on the Cardinals top 30 prospects list. He was the Seattle Mariners top prospect last month. O'Neill was acquired by the Cardinals for pitcher Marco Gonzales. O'Neill is projected to reach the majors sometime next season. O'Neill's batting average is .241 with 26 homeruns and 81 RBI's, along with 12 stolen bases.
Outfielder Harrison Bader is ranked fifth on St. Louis's top 30 prospects list. He is projected to reach the majors sometime next season. Bader's batting average is .286 with 20 homeruns and 54 RBI's, along with 12 stolen bases.
Right handed pitcher Dakota Hudson is ranked eighth on St. Louis's top 30 prospects list. He is projected to reach the majors sometime next season. Hudson's record is 9-4 with a 2.88 ERA. In 137.2 innings pitched, he has walked 43 batters and struck out 93.
Outfielder Randy Arozarena is ranked eleventh on the Cardinals top 30 prospects list. He is projected to reach the majors sometime next season. His batting average is .271 with 11 homeruns and 48 RBI's, along with 17 stolen bases.
Right handed pitcher Zac Gallen is ranked thirteenth on the Cardinals top 30 prospects list. He is projected to reach the majors sometime next season. His record is 10-6 with a 2.89 ERA. In 130.2 innings pitched, he has walked 30 batters and struck out 109.
Left handed pitcher Austin Gomber is ranked fifteenth on St. Louis's top 30 prospects list. He is projected to reach the majors sometime this season, but that probably won't happen because Gomber is still with Double-A Springfield and hasn't reached Triple-A yet. His record is 8-7 with a 3.58 ERA. In 123.1 innings pitched, he has walked 45 batters and struck out 113. Gomber still needs some more work and more likely he won't be in the majors until 2018 or 2019.
