Week 9 NFL Predictions
The Cleveland Browns and the San Francisco 49ers remain win less, but it is very possible the 49ers could end it soon after they acquired quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo from the New England Patriots.
It seems as if Ben McAdoo has lost the New York Giants locker room with the suspension of Janoris Jenkins for a violation of team rules. Chicago Bears tight end Zach Miller underwent vascular surgery to save leg.
With the season basically half way over, the playoff races are going to start to heat up. I went 11-2 with my picks last week and my record is 73-46 on the year.
Buffalo Bills 28 New York Jets 14: Adding Kelvin Benjamin to the passing game will make this Bills offense even more dangerous. LeSean McCoy continues to run the ball effectively and it sets up play action. The Jets have been finding ways to lose close games and they will get mauled at the line of scrimmage.
Atlanta Falcons 21 Carolina Panthers 24: The Panthers might be a better team on the road, but the Panthers got a much needed win last week against Tampa Bay. Christian McCaffery and Devin Funchess will help out Cam Newton. The Panthers will make Matt Ryan and the Falcons offense uncomfortable.
Indianapolis Colts 14 Houston Texans 45: DeShaun Watson has sparked the Texans offense week in and week out. The Colts are in complete disarray. Indianapolis will be in for a long afternoon.
Cincinnati Bengals 17 Jacksonville Jaguars 20: The Bengals escaped with a win last week against the Colts. They won't escape with one this week. Leonard Fournette will be back from an ankle injury and the Bengals will have a tough time stopping him.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17 New Orleans Saints 23: The Buccaneers have been taking a step back this season. Jameis Winston hasn't been the problem, but they struggle to score touchdowns. The defense isn't playing well and the Saints rushing attack will be tough to stop.
Los Angeles Rams 34 New York Giants 10: Jared Goff and Todd Gurley are both ready to roll off the bye week. The Rams offense is going to control the game all afternoon long. The Giants are dysfunctional and the offense will struggle.
Denver Broncos 13 Philadelphia Eagles 23: The Broncos will start Brock Osweiler at quarterback this week and not Trevor Siemian. This is going to be very interesting for the Broncos. They have struggled, but the main problem has been the offensive line. The Eagles defense will look to feast early and often. Adding Jay Ajayi to the offense will mess things up early, but then the Eagles will make the changes necessary in order to win the game.
Baltimore Ravens 20 Tennessee Titans 24: The Ravens were able to feast off a weak Dolphins offense last week. Baltimore will realize early that the Titans offense is a lot better. Marcus Mariota will out play Joe Flacco and the Titans have a better running game than the Ravens do.
Arizona Cardinals 13 San Francisco 49ers 16: Drew Stanton will be the starter for the Cardinals with Carson Palmer out. Jimmy Garoppolo will probably make an appearance this week for the 49ers and if not, it will be in the near future. If Beathard is the starter, he will be put on short leash. Carlos Hyde will out play Adrian Peterson.
Washington Redskins 17 Seattle Seahawks 30: The Seahawks will blitz Kirk Cousins all game long. The Redskins offensive line is horrendous and the Seahawks defensive front will maul them, but the Seahawks defense was anything but special last week. They will get their mojo back this week. Russell Wilson will continue to ball out this week.
Kansas City Chiefs 31 Dallas Cowboys 17: The Chiefs speed on offense will present a big time challenge to the Cowboys defense. Dak Prescott will be without Ezekiel Elliott and that will present a big challenge for the offense. Dallas will probably use a running back by committee system. It is possible the Chiefs defense stacks the box and dares Prescott to beat them.
Oakland Raiders 28 Miami Dolphins 24: Derek Carr will shred the Dolphins secondary apart. The Dolphins will get Jay Cutler back from injury. Miami might struggle running the ball with trading Jay Ajayi, but they have Damien Williams and Kenyan Drake and I think they will be just fine. The Raiders haven't forced many turnovers this season and they will force some against the Dolphins.
Detroit Lions 24 Green Bay Packers 27: The Lions had close to 500 yards of total offense last week against the Steelers, but the Lions are disgusted they couldn't find a way to score a touchdown and win the game. Matthew Stafford will show up once again for the Lions, but the Lions defense will have a tough time stopping Aaron Jones and Brett Hundley.
Byes: Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots, and Pittsburgh Steelers.
