Syracuse Upsets #9 UVA

On Saturday afternoon, the Syracuse men's basketball team hosted #9 Virginia in an ACC matchup. Syracuse came into this game with a three game-winning streak, coming off a wild overtime win over NC State, while Virginia won six out of their last seven games.

In the first half, Virginia dominated on the floor as they shot 54.2 percent compared to Syracuse's 39.1 and 64.2 percent in three-pointers compared to Syracuse's 25. Virginia also out-rebounded the Orange 17-8 and had a 34-22 lead at the half.

Coming out for the second half, the Orange were eager to make a comeback despite being down by 12 at the half.  With 12:29 left in the game, Andrew White III made a three-pointer to tie the game at 36. Then with adding defensive rebounds and forcing the Cavaliers to turn the ball over a few times, the Orange finally got a hold of the lead at 11:35 left to play and held onto it for the rest of the game.

Syracuse went on to win 66-62 over #9 Virginia, picking up their seventh ACC win, 15th win overall. Senior Andrew White III led the Orange with 25 points and freshman Kyle Guy led the Cavaliers with 14 points.

Even though the NCAA vacated 101 of Jim Boeheim's wins, this win could still be considered Boeheim's 1,000th, and as a Die Hard Syracuse Fan, it counts to me as his 1,000.

Syracuse looks to continue their four game-winning streak as they travel to Clemson to take on the Tigers Tuesday night.
