There are 6 teams that have been a Disappointment in the 2016-17 season.
Hi everybody. The College Basketball season is more than in full swing. We have had some Nice Surprises in this season so far. But we have had some disappointments as well. That's what my focus is going to be today. The Teams that were a contender when the season started. But have been nothing but a disappointment. And I am going to tell you now there are a couple of surprises on this list so be ready. You will get my take on each team and what they need to do or what the future holds for them. Let's get Started.
The Georgetown Hoyas: The glory days may have left this fine institution of College Basketball for the time Being. The are 10-9, 1-5 in Big East play. They have 3 signature wins that are not really Signature. Oregon, Syracuse and UConn. And if you think the road for the Hoyas get's any easier think again. They have 3 games against Ranked teams. They are at Xavier then they have Creighton at home then Back on the Road against Butler. So it's a long road to Hold for Georgetown. If the Hoyas want to get in to the Big dance the have to win the Big East tournament. Because with a record like this they will not get a at large bid I can guarantee you on that. But they might get into the NIT if they are lucky down the stretch.
Oklahoma Sooners: They have had their Struggles this season. They are7-9, 1-4 in the Big 12. The 2 major problems are No Buddy HIELD and no Isaiah Cousins. They have struggled to score at all this season. There Leading Scorer is KHADEEM LATTIN but he's only averaging 8.5 points per game and only has 5.9 rebounds per game. That's what the problem is in Norman. I will say this Oklahoma will be lucky to get into the NIT. You Can forget about the Big Dance because of this record and I don't see them going very far in the Big 12 tournament at all.
UConn Huskies: The Women have been nothing but perfect. As for the Men it's been a nightmare 7-10, 2-3 in AAC play this season. The Huskies opened the season ranked 18th in the country. But they lost 2 of their stars to injury. Terry LARRIER and ALTERIQUE GILLBERT went down to injury and they are done for the season. UConn has no hope for the NIT or the NCAA tournament. So in short, And UCONN fans are not going to like this but you can stick a fork in the men. And put all of your heart and faith in the women.
Texas Longhorns: The Problem with the Longhorns is not injury. But it's the youth on the team all of their leading scorers are either Freshman or Sophomores. And on top of that Texas leading scorer Tevin Mack has been Suspended. So I will say this to the Longhorns. I will look for you guys next season. But as for this season get some experience and you guys will be something to look forward to next and I can't wait to see what you guys can do. But as for this season you guys are done.
Duke Blue Devils: Now I grant you the Blue Devils are 14-4 but they are only 2-3 in the ACC. This was a Duke team that started off the season as the Number 1 team in the Country. They weren't even predicted to lose 4 games all season. But they have done just that. They have lost 3-of-5 games in ACC play. Harry Giles and Jayson Tatum are back form injuries and Grayson Allen is back form Suspension. They Need Coach K to comeback form leave NOW!!!!. Because there's no excuse for a Duke team of this much talent and be so loaded to be 2-3 in ACC play. There's no reason for that at all. Duke will be in the Big dance but right now I only have them as a 8 or 9 seed in the tournament. But they need to get their act together now because they are playing horrible right now.
Syracuse Orange: The Orange are only 11-8, 3-3 in ACC play they thought they got a Boost form Tyler LYDON and Tyler Roberson. And they got a transfer in Andrew White and they did get freshman Tyler Battle. But they got off to a bad start in ACC play with loses to Georgetown and UConn. Then On top of that they suffered a 33-point beat down at the hands of St Johns. I don't think Syracuse has recovered from that at all. But they better get it together now because they are in the loaded ACC and the Conference is tough this year. Right Now I have Syracuse on the Bubble on getting in to the NCAA tournament. But they really need to get dome signature wins and they can not suffer anymore bad loses at this point of the season or they can kiss any tournament hopes goodbye.
