Tennessee Titans: News and notes from training camp 8/17

The Titans are out on the practice field at St. Thomas Sports Park as we are just 28 days from the season opener in Denver!

The team continues to prepare for the regular season with the preseason completely scrapped and the goal will be to keep players healthy and acclimate the new guys to life in the NFL.

The Titans once again received some good and some bad news over the weekend and on Monday.

Here are some notes from camp over the last few days.

- Corey Davis has been removed from the PUP list

Wide receiver Corey Davis has been cleared to return to practice and could be seen out on the field as early as today. Much like with linebacker Jayon Brown, we do not know why Davis was on the PUP list when he reported to camp two weeks ago, but at least he is back with plenty of time to prepare.

- Amani Hooker continues to standout

Entering his third season in the league, former Iowa safety Amani Hooker could see a bump in snaps this fall simply because of how great he has been on the practice field. This pass-breakup Hooker is world-class.

When appearing in games also, Hooker has been stunning.

- Another edge-rusher/outside linebacker is signed?

The Titans signed another undrafted free agent in the same position just before the weekend in Wyatt Ray, and now, Tennessee has added another pass-rusher or OLB in Jamal Davis II.

According to Jim Wyatt, Davis II has signed to add both depth and competition at the position throughout camp. Will he make the 53-man roster? Probably not. But it sure does make me wonder what's going on with Vic Beasley.

- No Tannehill, no big deal

Ryan Tannehill was a notable absence from camp on Monday morning. It was the two back-ups, Logan Woodside and Cole McDonald, who took the majority of the reps.

Tannehill is not injured, ill, or dealing with contract concerns, of course. He practiced Sunday and looked sharp, but was not present on Monday. Maybe it's just a day off? Maybe the coaching staffs wants to take a closer look at the other two QB's?

We don't know. But don't worry about his absence.
