College Football Conference Championship Game Predictions
Well the college football regular season is wrapping up and it's championship Saturday, so get ready for the ride. A couple of these games have playoff implications so it may get tricky, but these are my predictions on how they will end up:
Friday December 1st
Pac-12
#10 USC vs #12 Stanford
This game will be one of the most intriguing matchups of the weekend, two Heisman worthy players (Darnold, Love) and two teams that depend solely on them. Bryce love has been bothered by a high ankle but my bite the bullet and play, but if he doesn't it'll be a tall task. USC's offense has hit its stride the last 4 games and could prove to be too much for Stanford. If Love can grind out at least 25 plays, then the Cardinal have a chance, but as hot as the Trojans are I had a change of heart.
#10 USC 49 #12 Stanford 21
Saturday December 2nd
AAC
#20 Memphis vs #14 UCF
Two high scoring teams that can put up points and make this a shootout for the ages. The two coaches are on teams radar's to get new gig's, so whomever gets through this game without losing focus will likely take this one. Scott Frost has nothing to worry about (lol).
#14 UCF 41 #20 Memphis 20
C-USA
North Texas vs FAU
Lane Kiffin has made Florida Atlantic one of the best offensive teams in FBS. Their quick turn around in conference USA has been anything short of amazing. FAU beat North Texas in October 69-31, so it's probably going to be about the same here.
FAU 52 North Texas 17
MAC
Akron vs Toledo
Toledo will prove to be too much offensively even though the Zips played best defensively to sneak into this game, Toledo will run up the score.
Toledo 45 Akron 14
Big 12
#3 Oklahoma vs #11 TCU
Classic offense vs defense in this matchup, Heisman hopeful Baker Mayfield had a field day in their first matchup, but the Horned Frogs have the top ranked D and can cause Mayfield to be a errant with his passes. The Sooners defense have to go up against Kenny Hill and his ability to make plays out of the pocket and Oklahoma struggled with those type of QB's. Mayfield has a 220 rating the last four games but I'm going out on a limb and I think the TCU defense can make enough plays to slow them down.
#11 TCU 30 #3 Oklahoma 27
SEC
#6 Georgia vs #4 Auburn
The Tigers smashed Georgia a couple of weeks ago at Jordan-Hare, racking up over 200 yards on the ground but Kerryon Johnson is a game time decision, so I don't think they can wear down that stingy Georgia defense. The bulldogs want revenge and their three-headed monster will eat.
#6 Georgia 27 #4 Auburn 17
SWAC
Alcorn State vs Grambling State
Grambling has run through the SWAC this season (9-1) and defeated Alcorn State 43-18 in September, so look for transfer Devante Kincade to have a big game throwing to his favorite target Chad Williams (80 receptions 1,191 receiving yards 10 TD's).
Grambling State 30 Alcorn State 17
MWC
#23 Boise State vs Fresno State
These two teams just played last week and Fresno shut down the Broncos offense but can they do it two games in a row.....No! The blue turf monster never bites twice.
Boise State 30 #25 Fresno State 27
ACC
#1 Clemson vs #7 Miami
The Clemson defense may be too strong for a Miami offensive that has struggled recently and Rozier against that front 7= mismatch.
#1 Clemson 28 #7 Miami 10
Big 10
#8 Ohio State vs #4 Wisconsin
The Wisconsin Badgers have been criticized by many and want to prove they belong here, while the Buckeyes hold out hope for a playoff spot. J.T. Barrett's knee is nowhere near 100% and against the nations top defense it's going to be tougher to run the ball, however that's what Wisconsin does best. I see the Badgers pounding Ohio State into submission.
#4 Wisconsin 28 #8 Ohio State 20
Those are my predictions, so let's get ready to RUUUMMBLLLLLLLLEEEEE!
