The Atlanta Falcons have a big decision to make regarding all- pro running back Devonta Freeman, as he looks to sign an extension that will keep him in a Falcons uniform for the foreseeable future. Freeman a former 4th round pick feels he deserves to be one of the highest paid backs in the NFL after back to back seasons of over 1,000 rushing yards and double digit touchdowns (11). He is also among the top backs when it comes to yards from scrimmage, as he only ranks 2nd behind his teammate Julio Jones.

Atlanta may be looking to see what the market is going to generate, starting with Steelers' star Le'Veon Bell, who is looking for an extension also. If that's the case the Falcons could be looking at Bell if both backs are unsigned at the end of the upcoming season. It sounds crazy but stranger things have happened, right?

Freeman is a huge part of Atlanta's dual threat duo with Tevin Coleman as they give opposing defenses nightmares. They can be safety blankets, blockers and receivers. The Falcons pass game thrives on how effective Freeman runs, being a home run threat is something Atlanta needs to keep to help their chances at taking the NFC again this upcoming season.

Hopefully this gets resolved very soon, because the Falcons have built something unique and have to capitalize while they have all of their main pieces together. This should not linger because it can become a cancer/ distraction to the team.

I say pay him, he's put up the numbers and a leader in the locker room, so Mr. Blank and Mr. Dimitroff come to a decision very, very quickly.
