Royals sign Brandon Moss

On Sunday, the Royals announced the signing of Brandon Moss to a 2-year deal worth $12-million dollars. Moss, who spent the past two seasons with the Saint Louis Cardinals, can play in the outfield, and most importantly first base.

Brandon Moss is signed through 2018, so he will be a Royal after Eric Hosmer leaves in free agency following this season. Moss can be a dependable option for life-after-Hosmer.

Brandon Moss brings a lot of power to Kansas City. Now all the sudden, a team who for years has struggled in the power department now have a chance to be in the upper-half of the league in that category with guys like Mike Moustakas, Jorge Soler, and now Brandon Moss. In a contract year, Eric Hosmer is still searching for a 30-home-run season, if he shows constituent power, this could be a very good lineup.

Brandon Moss will be the Royals 2017 Designated hitter, the crowed outfield has no room for Moss, as Eric Hosmer anchors down first base, you have to find a slot for the 33-year-old slugger. Brandon Moss slugged .525 in 2016 against right-handed-pitchers. Compared to Cheslor Cuthbert, and Paulo Orlando who slugged .394, and .368 respectively in 2016. Brandon Moss holds a career .241 batting average, .319 on-base-percentage, and .455 slugging. Moss averages 25-homers a season, to go along with 76-RBI's.
