The Atlanta Hawks have traded hometown hero Dwight Howard to the Charlotte Hornets bringing his homecoming to a screeching halt. Howard was traded for Miles Plumlee, Marco Belinelli and their 41st pick.

The move was primarily used to dump Howard's remaining salary on his 3-year/$70 million dollar deal. He had 2 years and $47 million remaining on his current deal. Howard averaged 13.5 points and 12.7 rebounds last season.

The three time defensive player of the year will be on his third team in three years and seems to be running out of luck as he's in his 14th NBA season.

Howard was drafted 1st overall by the Magic out of Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy in 2004. He is an eight time all-star and had a Finals appearance with the Orlando Magic in 2009.
