2018 Chicago Bears Mock Draft: Draft Day

Guess what day it is, NFL Draft Day. Finally, after months of scouting, interviewing, evaluating, and predicting, the day is finally here. GM Ryan Pace will again be another amusement since last year’s draft when they infamously trade up for Mitchell Trubisky. Pace doesn’t like telling his secrets of what moves he will move, but he did say that there are 8 players that the Bears would select with the #8 pick. Tremaine Edmunds and Quenton Nelson, without a doubt, are including in the list of 8 players, "We have eight names right now of players that we like," Pace said. "There are a lot of variables that are going to take place in front of us that are going to dictate who's going to be there, and we're excited if any one of those eight names is there." According to Todd McShay, he lists the Bears among the teams that could trade-down in the draft. When asked who is likely to trade-down, he responds by saying "I think Indianapolis at No. 6 and Chicago at No. 8 are also possibilities." With 4 different quarterbacks projected to go in the first round, the quarterback market will be extremely expensive, so the Bears have an advantage. This draft will be huge and will determine the success of the team for years to come.

With that being said, here is my final Chicago Bears mock draft for the 2018 NFL Draft.

Bears trade #8 pick to Buffalo for #12, #22, and #96 pick.

1st Round: LB Tremaine Edmunds. Edmunds is among the 8 players that Pace will draft at #8. While Smith, Nelson, and Fitzpatrick are gone, Edmunds will remain at #12, giving the Bears the opportunity to take him. Edmunds draw comparisons to Bears Hall of Famer Brian Urlacher. He’s very versatile. He can in a 3-4 or 4-3 defense and can play anywhere at the linebacker position.

1st Round: CB Isaiah Oliver. There are multiple reports that the Bears are interested in Isaiah Oliver. Oliver has the superb length in his arms and makes plays that most cornerbacks can’t because of his advantage of having long arms. Pace signed Fuller to a four-year deal for $56 million and paid big money to retain Prince Amukamara. Adding Oliver in the mix could a fierce secondary with safeties Eddie Jackson and Adrian Amos.

2nd Round: G Isaiah Wynn. Wynn is a very versatile player with can guard, center, and even tackle. Whitehair is also very versatile just like Wynn. By training camp, I predict that Wynn will play center and Whitehair will move to left guard.

3rd Round: WR Equanimeous St. Brown. The Bears decline Cameron Meredith’s offer sheet, so Meredith will instead sign with the New Orleans Saints. Without Cam, HC Matt Nagy will need a #2 receiver. That’s where St. Brown comes in. He has tremendous size standing 6 foot 5. He and Allen Robinson will be big targets while Cohen and Gabriel are the speedy options.

4th Round: OLB/DE Ogbonnia Okoronkwo. Okoronkwo adds depth to the linebacker position. There have been several injuries at the linebacker position, so he is easy to pull-in if any starting linebacker gets hurt.

4th Round: OT Jamarco Jones. Jones can compete with Charles Leno Jr at left tackle. Here is Fun Fact, he’s a Chicago Native. He is decent run-blocker and passes protector.

5th Round: CB Darius Phillips. Phillips is a decent Nickelback but can be tremendous on special teams. He ran over 3,000 kick return yards with a total of 6 return touchdowns. Along with Cohen, he could provide a game return game for the Bears.

6th Round: WR J’Mon Moore. Moore adds depth to the receiving core. He’s a decent route runner with good size.

7th Round: RB Martez Carter. Carter is a joker-back just like Tarik Cohen. Pace drafts a running back every year, so don’t be surprised. He has a similar skillset as Cohen. HC Matt Nagy will have an explosive offense heading into the 2018 season, with three-headed monsters in the backfield
